For Haven's Sake - Sunset Time Trial McDowell Park

We want to thank Tom Ament for his extreme care of our child, Haven Fowler. Out of no where, he sent me a text one day saying that he wanted our permission to hold a benefit ride for mine and Kris' daughter Haven and that he and his friends had already worked out where and when and just needed my blessing.

I am at a loss for words at how much Tom, Zach, and Sarah have put in to this benefit ride and how they have been able to get the mountain bike community to join together. I will say I was amazed at Tom (he'll probably roll his eyes at me or say something really sweet and nice about me) because he's single, no children, and rides 24/5. I've been told he takes 2 days off a week.... He has only met me once and never met Kris or Haven yet he took this project on like it was his own child and has been working his ass off on it. You are awesome Tom! Zach and Sarah the same - both have only met me once and never my family but they have been there for anything I need. Thank you all.

There will be quite a bit of goodies to be given away at McDowell Park. Thank you to the park rangers for approving the request to have a night ride. Thank you to Ska Brewery for providing the liquids in an effort to keep everyone from deydrating! :)

Thank you to the amazing bike shops who have joined in:

Swiss American Bikes

Southwest Sounds & Cyclery

Bike & Bean

High Gear Bike Shop

More sponsors to come - check out the WEBSITE they have set up about the event. If you would like to help Tom out or join up as a sponsor or provide demo bikes for the many expected participants please contact TOM AMENT.

......

Although everything has pretty much gone downhill in the past year and a half for my daughter and this has pretty much made me feel as the below post I know so many good hearted people and many of them I have met through the oddest ways.

I have many great friends who have been there no matter what.......I had friends who I thought would be there for whatever hit and dropped off the face of the world when they decided they didn't need my friendship because they had something better.....

It's funny....but some of the closest friends I have are the ones I've only met in the past year or so. Friends I never thought I would make and that would care about my daughter they way they do. I have my friends from High School who have shown a lot of support to us, my best friend from college that I haven't seen in maybe 10 years who stays in close contact now, and I have friends who I have met due to bikes that have shown care for my daughter in ways I couldn't imagine.

Although I have all but left the world of bikes I still love the mountain bike community and the family feeling they give. I will be back when there is space in my life for bikes....for now my life is filled with keeping my daughter alive and helping her to someday have a childhood.

Thank you to my dearest friends.....and thank you for what you are doing for my daughter!

Soon to come...you will see one of the most amazing gifts a friend has given to my daughter! I can't thank him enough. :)

According to Facebook

I took the "Are You Mentally Ill" quiz - I love these games.....here is my outcome:

The good news is you probably don't belong in a mental institution. The bad news is you're decently screwed up and more than likely you have your parents and the rest of your crazy *@$ family to thank. Buts let be honest, at family gatherings when you look around the dinner table at the rest of your collective gene pool, you recognize on some level the filters been defective for a few generations. The really unfortunate piece is that there is no drug or therapy that can give you a new family.....thats right that lunatic uncle whats his name that everyone avoids, yeah your related to that....yikes! Is it happy hour yet?

TransIowa 5

TransIowa is almost here.......Guitar Ted and David Pals have been working like dogs getting this together....lots of great people heading out to this one. I look forward to all the muddy details (I hear lots of rain is hitting Iowa).

We've got a FistiCuff out there up for grabs......I'm very excited about this race.
